The marriage record [for his marriage to Mary] stated that Stephen Popoff was 33; that he was a clergyman born in Adrianople, Turkey; and that his father's name was Stryan A. Popoff, his mother's Paraska Nicholora Popoff.

But his health suddenly took a turn for the worse and he died of spinal meningitis on March 8, 1905.

He went on to get his degree [at Western Theological Seminary, Allegeheny City, PA] and it was as the Rev. S. S. Popoff that, on July 30, 1902, he married Mary Frost, daughter of William Frost of 139 Chestnut St.
