H. Wilson Frost and ? White Street, Fredonia, New York. The building in the background is the Squire White house, before the 1926 addition that is the White Inn. Part of the original building in the picture is still visible today, at the rear of the White Inn.
The William Henry Frost family in Fredonia, N.Y Plate from The Frost Genealogy by Josephine C. Frost. Appears in the original between pages 310 and 311.
| Frost-Sibley Lumber Company -- about 1886, Pigeon, PA Evelyn has identified several of the people in this photo. See locator. Can anyone identify others?
In the right hand part of the mat in the original is the pencil notation "? John W. Frost & wife" with an arrow seemingly pointing to the young man on the end of the second row. Presumably these would be John Wilson Frost and his wife Sarah Jane Powell. Below that is the notation "next to wife ist Coral". That would be Coral E. Frost. Below that there is a trace of additional pencil notation, but it has been erased except for a few letters.
In the bottom margin is the pencil notation, "3rd row boy, Lizzie, Eola, Mary, Nan, Father, Wilson, Mother,". That would be Elizabeth Ada, Eola Gertriude, Mary, Annis, William Henry, Halsey Wilson, and Annis Powell Frost. |
The Jack Frost Lodge, Warren, PA 1930's Evelyn says, "This is the home where I grew up from 1923 to 1940. It was a beautiful fifteen room home. It took a ton of coal a week to keep it warm in the winter. When Dad's automobile business went bust in the 1930's, Mom turned it into a tourist home. Those old sheets had to be ironed in those days and Mom spent her time keeping the house spic and span and using the mangle to iron the sheets with pre-teenage help of course. I remember the day this picture was taken I was dusting the floor in a second floor room and looked out that balcony window while the photographer was working. We did not have bed and breakfasts in those days. The tourist came and paid his dollar and had breakfast somewhere else."
Halsey Wilson Frost and William Henry Frost Annotation on back in unknown hand reads, "Grandpa & Uncle Wilson. That is an oil well that Uncle Wilson is looking into."

Another view of the H. Wilson Frost house in Warren, PA Also called the "Jack Frost Lodge."
The Jack Frost Lodge -- side view Evelyn says, "Here is the same house from the side with my brother, Harold, and I shoveling snow in 1936. Also, here is my first car, Ophelia, that Dad had bought for me for $25.00. He gave it to me on the condition that I not drive it out of town or I would lose it. Some friends and I just had to get to Sheffield so we could go roller skating. I ran out of gas on the way home. Nothing to do but call Dad who had already gone to bed. That was the last of my first car."
Back row: Wilson Frost, Bob Moran, Howard Keller, George Moran, Angie Frost Moran; Front row: Mary Frost Popoff, George Moran, Harold Frost, Elva Sibley Frost, Evelyn Frost, Mary Edith Frost, Bill Moran, Tom Moran
Wilson Frost Per label on back. Also on the back the photographer is noted as "C(?) H Sisson, Fredonia, NY"

Need Help Here The man standing to the right of center wearing a white tie is Wilson Frost. The others I haven't identified. From the scene and dress I'd bet this was taken at site of the family homes in Pathfork, Kentucky during the Blackstar Coal mining venture.
